Health Master Blender

The Montel Williams Health Master blender is more than just your average blender or juicer.
Bookmark and Share

All three blenders/juicers allow you to drop in whole fruits and vegetables, and make soup, healthy drinks, etc.

The Living Well Health Master blender is called a fruit and vegetable emulsifier.

The kitchen appliance is supposed to replace the blender, juicer, and mixer.

The Health Master is designed to liquefy the whole fruit or vegetable so that you get all of the vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fiber from every part of the plant such as the skin & seeds.  The regular juicer, extracts the juice, but leaves behind the fiber, skin, seeds, which contain a lot of nutrients.

Numerous nutritional studies have been done over the years showing the clear health benefits of consuming fresh fruits and vegetables regularly, so the nutritional benefits are pretty solid if the Health Master works well.

The original Living Well Health Master infomercial clip.

The Health Master machines blades turn at about 3,000 RPMs thanks to the upgraded 2 HP motor (an option I think).  This allows the food to cook from the friction.  This way, you can drop fresh veggies into the Health Master and dispense delicious cooked soups.

The Health Master machine pitched by Montel Williams is newish technology applied to an older concept.  I own a Vitamixer from 20+ years ago which does exactly the same thing.  Many consider the Vitamix to be the Cadillac of blenders but they are more expensive.  Still others like the Blendtec.

The Health Master was (perhaps still is), a Jack Lalanne product which he pitched for many years too.  You can order these new online, but used ones are harder to find because people really like them.

Do you own a Health Master sold by Montel Williams?  What is your review of this "blender?"

Blender will not turn on

Posted by Nate at Sep 10, 2009 08:32 AM
I had purchased the Montel Health Blender. After several months of having it put away - to-date after trying to turn it on, there was no power coming from the unit. I had even tried other outlets. Still no power. There was something under the bottom of the machine that looked like a reset switch. After pushing it I still couldn't get the unit to turn on. The machine is brand new. I was shock. At the moment i'm trying to find out who I am to get in touch with to have this problem corrected. Can someone out there help me in this area (information on who to contact). Thank you.

Did you buy it new from the maker? If so, do you have a manual or other material? If not, try the official site at http://www.myhealthmaster.com

Blender will not turn on

Posted by Thomas Fox at Sep 11, 2009 06:59 AM
It sound like your blender components may not close properly and that this is the reason why it won't turn on. go to http://www.myhealthmaster.com/pdf/healthmaster_manual.pdf and download the manual. There you will find what I am referring to,.. there are little connections from lid to container and to base, etc.... if they are not completely locked or incorrectly put together your blender is a 'no' go.

I am in the process of purchasing one myself. $ 200 is only the base price. I paid $ 300 for the final purchase (+ extra power, + warranty 3 years, + shipping + expedited 7 to 10 day shipping - which by the way is all inclusive with the Vita Mix 4500 Turbo Blender at $ 359.00 with 1300 watts and 11.5 amps). Of course my bias is that I have been using Vita Mix 2 hp blenders and for over 1 year the 3 hp Vita Mix commercial one. (I was diagnosed with cancer and then changed my life style). In due course I got into the blender business because it is what I enjoy...raw food, and you name it. I have started selling my blender experience knowledge ...selling blenders and picked up also Waring blenders and Blendtec. So I have tried them all. This Health Master blender I have not tried yet. If it is even almost as good as the Vita Mix 4500, we might be onto something. I will give it a fair shot and compare it to the others and then write a review... sounds fair? I won't give you my website here because I don't want to sound like just wanting to sell. Anyway, check back later... One thing I already noticed about the company, the blender is a lead product and they make money on up-selling you to all sorts of things. Of course everybody tries to sell you more, even Vita Mix.... their rather interesting dry blade container, extra + 3 year (to 10 years) warranty. Any way... I talk to much LOL.

How is this blender different from the Jack LaLanne blender with the same exact name, same manufacturer, but not longer on the market? Several reviews state that the bearings on the bottom go out within a few months. Has this problem been fixed?

""The Jack LaLanne Health Master 100 Blender is the revolutionary new blender with absolutely amazing features! It has the power and versatility of much ...
www.amazon.com/Jack...Health-Master.../dp/B000TFE0T8 ""

review: ... HOWEVER, the bearings at the bottom of the blender are completely inadequate. It never got wet from below. I was always careful about that. It still didn't take long for the bearings to become shot. Liquid started to leak through and it rusted out. Now the whole thing is entirely useless. It lasted all of about 2 months for a total of probably 40 uses. That is totally unacceptable. The bearings just can't keep up with the 150 HP electric engine.

Would you please explain, are you talking about the bearings in the blade assembly? Send me please a picture to lifestyle@123vita.com.

I am still waiting on mine so I can examine it and write my review.

If you only used it for 60 days, the standard package includes a 90 warranty.

Thanks

Hi Jackie,

We just bought one & so far so good. I like the clean up too. Have had Juice man & jack L"s. We bought for juicing primarily and I liked the whole fruit or veggie option, without cutting into small parts.
Have looked at Vita mix over the years also but never wanted to spend that much.

Good luck,

I bought a Living Well Healthmaster and love it. I am wondering, though, for those on a restricted calorie diet, does using the entire fruit/veggie cause any side effects? I have digestive issues and have used my blender every day for 2 weeks but had a very upset stomach the other day and am giving this a break for a few days. Is juicing 1 apple, 2 carrots and 2 celery identical to eating these in solid form? Do I need to cut back to give my system time to adjust?

Fruit should be aten or drank on an empty stomach, or atleast thats what some people say. And yes eating or drinking it is all in the same form(getting all the same stuff out of it either way) :)

I would think the potential is there for drinking it being better than eating it depending on how well you chew the food.

JUICE is better becuase it takes less energy from ur body to break down. From a nutritional stand point it doesnt matter.

If you have a sensitive stomach, don't eat raw fruits or vegetables on an empty stomach! The acid build up will upset you. Eat a saltine cracker of small piece of whole wheat bread first before eating especially apples, nuts, oranges, etc. Bananas seem to be the mildest on the empty stomach.

This is not true, as practitioner of holistic health raw food in the body is very alkalizing in the body. The body produces acids to break these foods down, and depending upon ther old diet the body may produce enough acid to break down meats. The body needs to be retrained to only produce enough acid to break down veggie because an abondance will create a "Tummy Hurt"

Now, some fruits contain seeds that might not be so healthy to eat!

Is the person tossing in an entire apple? One ought not to eat apple seeds!!

nutritional content

Posted by DK at Jul 07, 2010 02:05 PM
Only one difference is that the things usually that are thrown away eg the cneter portion of apple are now grinded and nutrients in there can be absorbed by your body.
Another example is strawberry. Most of the antioxidants are in the seeds which pass your system when eating staright because these seeds are not crushed and hence no absorption by body. When using these belnders these seeds are crushed and hence provide more nutrients.

Is juicing 1 apple, 2 carrots and 2 celery identical to eating these in solid form? The answer is no, it's not identical, because now you can drink your food too fast, instead of chewing it. Sip and swish the fruit/veggies from your blender to produce and mix-in enough saliva to digest easier in your tender stomach.

I've used the apple, carrot, celery combination to make juice and don't remember any side effects. However, I have had discomfort from juicing whole foods that didn't agree with something I ate earlier.

Hope this helps.

I have a healthmaster and went a couple months "drinking" daily glasses of vege's. I developed constipation and suffered for 3 weeks. I did research and according to Chinese medicine I had symptoms of "Spleen Qi Deficiency" which is caused from exceess "dampness" in the body. Meaning, too many uncooked vege's. The Chinese do not eat many things raw - they steam and ferment foods more often than not, and the philosphy is that our bodies must warm foods before digestion, and too many cold things overwork our digestion system. You see, I got lazy, and thought the HealthMaster was my way of eating well without having to work much for it. I'm back to cooking meals again, with lots of cooked vege's and stewed fruits, rice, oatmeal, yogurts, home-made breads, and high quality proteins. I'm happy to report I'm back to "regularlity" again. (I love the HealthMaster by the way - just have to figure out how to use it to mill grains. If you know how, email me at pdove at rochester.rr.com as I would REALLY appreciate it.

This is an important suggestion you have made. I always believe in moderation of all things. Listen to your body. I like eating raw but I always enjoy a few hot meals a week, all in moderation.

We often find one answer to our health problems and switch to it immediately 100% fanatically.

By the way, the Health Master may not be strong enough to emulsify and release important phyto nutrients... (1.75 hp motor). Other blenders have a 3 hp motor and that might make a huge difference.

With the healthy fruits and vegetables you're putting in, I seriously don't think it matters because it is so healthy...and almost most are low on the G.I. *(you can almost eat as much as you want...

If you drink too much too fast, you get too much sugar in your stomach, which you can't process fast enough to avoid it starting to ferment, thus the bloated feeling. There are advantages to juicing with all the parts of what you're juicing, and advantages to juicing just for the pure juice, depending on what you want to accomplish. If you're on a fast or have a health problem you're trying to correct, probably pure juice better.

Don't juice the same things over and over again. You can develop an allergic reaction. Switch up your juicing and you should be fine.

You might want to remove the apple from the mix. I read that apples (melons and bananas) are to be eaten by themselves and not mixed with anything. There's something with the chemical interaction that causes more acid in the digestive system.

If you're going from a low vegetable, low fiber diet to a high vegetable high fiber diet then you should start slow and simple and add more veggies/fiber each week so you body can adjust.

I was told that you shouldn't eat the seeds of the apple because they seeds contain cyanogenic acids. Just take the cores out before you juice them. Look on the net to find out what seeds are not good to eat, there are many. Hope this helped?

*upset stomach from juicing

Posted by DD at Aug 12, 2010 08:49 PM
hi, nancy...
this may be too simple of a remedy for your problem with juicing and getting an upset stomach, BUT i remember hearing / reading that you should "CHEW" your first few mouthfuls of juiced product before you actually swallow it. The reason for chewing before swallowing is that it will signal to your digestive system that "food" is being consumed and therefore digestion will take place which will REQUIRE your pancreas(?) to realease the necessary ENZYMES required FOR digestion. hope this helps...

You may have issues related to the foods you are combining, like what to eat with what based on acidity and alkaline content. Some foods create acid while others take it away. That is an issue most people do not even take into consideration.

Check out the website www.GreatTasteNoPain.com and you will find the answers to a lot of those type questions. Good luck!

This thing does not make juice. It makes 'mush'.

Juice

Posted by Sharon/Decatur, GA at Mar 22, 2010 05:15 PM
I thought I was the only one that thought everything comes out mushy. I have followed all the recipes and my juice is still thick. I have added extra water and it still comes out the same. I wish they would you have long to run the machine instead of sayting to increase to speed 8.

Juice

Posted by Patty at Jul 14, 2010 07:26 PM
The Health Master blender is not a juicer. It's purpose is to emulsify the fruits and vegetables, etc. so that you receive the benefits of the whole food. If you want only juice, you will need a juicer.

Juice

Posted by Thomas Fox at Aug 13, 2010 10:25 PM
This is actually the deceiving part that comes from the Health Master Infomercial. A blender is not a juicer. You have to put in water if you want liquid. If you put in carrots you get carrots puree, or "mush" as you said.

there is a distinct difference between a blender and a juicer. A juicer separates the water from the pulp / fiber while a blender "BLENDS" everything together.

I get lots of consumer reports about burning out of motors, rusty blades, the oily substance you are talking about, broken containers, and on top of it horrible customer service.

I wrote a review about the Health Master BLENDER on http://www.3blenders.com.

By the way, it is true, the Health Master is NOT A JUICER. There is a big difference. Montel's infomercial is very deceiving. You have to put water into your container with your veggies and fruits, otherwise you get puree...

I bought a Healthmaster this year and after owning it for only about a month and a half oil or some lubricating material from the motor started shooting out. I tried getting it replaced while it was still under warranty with no success. I called many times and spoke with several different people. I never once received a replacement like they said I would receive. Finally this July I finally received my money back but not my shipping and handling cost. Very poor customer service.

My review on the product is that it is very deceptive. I received my blender within days of ordering and was anxious to prove it. What a disappointment. I am still very angry as the costly deception. I most certainly did not get one like what is being demonstrated. Mine just mushed my expensive organic veggies. They said to increase the speed to 8 after turning on, mine did not get to 8 just to 5 and all contents had to go in the garbage. Cost me $300 plus $38 to return it. I am now living with the guild of spending $300 which could be used to help an honest need.

June 30,2010, I am so disappointed in the Health Master. My Husband purchased it for my Birthday October 2009, About 3 months ago it started to leak at the bottom and rusty liquid started to come out. We pay quite a bit of money to get this product. this should not happen. Two weeks ago my husband called the company. He had to pay $24.99 to have another pitcher sent to us. I have not even had this product for a year and already I had to dish out more money to get it replaced due to their poor quality. If I knew this was going to happen I would not have purchased it. Good Luck with your Heath Master

Montel Healthmaster Blender

My sister bought this machine, we used it the first time without reading instructions finding that it has 2 safety settings which is great. She made gelatos last night, they were really good. I would like to think I could do all this too in a blender, but most people can't afford the price of this blender, although all the health benefits are there, who can really afford a $200 or more blender? On my budget, all I got is a cheap blender that seems to work okay for now, but would like to think that everyone could get healthy on a cheaper budget!!!! I realize the blades and product is awesome, but people in this economy cannot afford such machine to help stay healthy or get healthy! Why cannot it be affordable, even with payments, its still expensive!

V-8 juice is cooked and full of salt. Don't do that. I have a Healthmaster and it is great! Have had it a while, no leakage, no problems and it does the job. It is not as well built as a Vitamix but it does the job and that is why you buy it. It is not a Hummer it is just a Volkswagon but it will get you from point A to point B.

V8 veggie and fruit juice exellent product, and point to note..the more you cook a tomato, the more lycopene you get from it. If you want a really good blender, go to a commercial appliance center and buy one there with a full one year warranty. Lesson learned. I will never again purchase from an infomercial.

Two things strike me about your comments. One, there is no other way to buy a new Health Master, as all sources whether web or tv go to the same place - they change the phone numbers around to track the buying source. Two - if you suspect that the product is going to be unsatisfactory after testing buy it on a credit card which you can always file a dispute that the product was misrepresent and possibly there is fraud involved, as many of these comments have suggested where the company doesn't honor its contract.

I was actually doing something wrong and thought it was the machine, called and a had a return shipping label in 3 miniutes,I printed .But after reading the manual better I figured out what I was doing wrong.the vita mix is good also but with mine you dont have to mix anything with a stick? You just push ice cream and it starts and stops by itself.Even misssmoothie.com thinks the blendtek is better than the vitamix stay awa from Montels made in China, terrible customer service blender. They offer a 100 yearwarranty becausy theyll be gone in 5 years watch

Does Bendtec make soup? I figured they're expensive enough to do more? I am sure something with 3 hp would give you better, smoother drinks and more likely smooth out the the seeds in strawberries, rasberries. I hate drinking those and choking on the seeds. I had Jack LaLanne Juicer once when it came out. It was a difficult machine. It made great juice, but it was a very messy clean-up and the machine got discolored and you had to cut everything up and take out pits, everything in order for the machine to work better.

I bought the Health Master as well.Work well enjoyed what I can make, but not even 2 mts the machine would not turn on. I called the company as well as emailing them being told a label would be emailed to me due to motor stopped working that was on the 6 of April. As of today I am still waiting and no one will reponse to my request. At this point I will send it back myself and pay the cost to ship to get my money back. Their customer service is what will cause product not to do well.

BIG PROBLEM RETURNING

Posted by Barbara Renkers at Jun 11, 2010 06:35 AM
I purchased - used 6 times - sixth time blue smoke was billowing out of the base unit. I have had it packed in the box for return for over two months. I have tried to contact / call / email with no luck. I was contemplating calling in on the shopping channel to order another one (supposedly) and then try to get some info on returning one. I haven't taken that step however, I just want a return. Please help! Anyone out there listening/ caring?

should I purchase the Health Master?

Posted by njoseph at Apr 15, 2010 07:10 AM
these infomercials always say "not available in stores", but guess what? they are!! i have seen them at target. i would definitely not risk dealing with lousy customer service that these people are talking about. just buy it at a store and then you can return it for refund if you don't like it. i would recommend walmart over target (target return policy is only 30 days, and sometimes you can't get a refund, only store credit). just make sure you know the store's return policy before you buy a high priced item. i don't know if walmart has the healthmaster, but i know target does.

i wanted a healthmaster for a long time until i actually seen it on display at target. it is huge! and i just don't have the counter space for it. it's also ugly and the canister is made of plastic.

i am really wanting a blender that will liquefy, not turn all my drinks into foam. does anyone know what kind of blenders are used at jamba juice?

Cheryle if youre needing to grind your own flour and you need a unit to last for a long time vita-mix is your machine. You need to purchase the separate grain blender container but its more efficient and you wont have to worry about possible mixing of moist with dry which will contaminate your flour. and as it has been noted Vita-Mix does offer rebuilt units at a discount. I have had mine for 12 years with zero complaints. Do want to upgrade to the newer sleeker more powerful professional units out now though when I get the money. I ope this helps.

Health master is by far the worse money i have ever spent. The machine broke, we have made 20 phone calls, waited on hold, have been canceled for shipment for no reason, still waiting for a replacement after 6 weeks DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY you will get tired of dealing with them and go away (THEY HOPE).

Fair Shot on the Health master

Posted by Thomas Fox at Aug 13, 2010 10:25 PM
Sorry about the late response...

The Health Master blender has enough power to blend most things nearly as smooth as the 2 hp Vitamix TB 4500 Blender. It is however not even nearly as good in workmanship, design, and overall quality as the Vitamix. Let's assume the Health Master motor and the container hold up beyond 2 months and your blade is not getting rusty, you have basically an ok blender regarding power. But the likelihood for it to last... I don't know. I have received a lot of emails from consumers screaming for revenge: "class action lawsuit"...

If Tristar's customer service would be better, then maybe it would be ok to chance it. But you have to pay $ 30 for shipping to get your warranty replacement (if you get it) after you return your broken one. And there are customers that reported waiting in excess of 2 months and still nothing... The same with refunds...

Just like I ready, if want to chance it with the Health Master, buy it at least at Target or at Bed Bath and Beyond....

My point... but why going through all that hassle when you get just for the same money a 2 hp Vitamix 4500 TB Blender or an 3 HP OMNI V Blender (Vitamix compatible)?

So, again, thanks for your trust in my review. Please check it out on http://www.3blenders.com. Or just call me at

I've tried everything and can't this blender to work! Well, I bought the Health Master just a few weeks ago and have used it only a few times so far but I've had trouble with it from the start! I first read the manuals and watched the DVD that came with it so I was sure not to do anything wrong. I tried to make the cashew butter and finally got it made but not after the blender shut off on me numerous times! Then I made a smoothie and the same thing happened. I am now in the process of making a soup but not actually using the heating part (I actually made the soup on the stove and now all I want to do is blend it) and the stupid thing turns on and then back off right away! I'm getting really fed up and am going to call the company as soon as I submit this. If I had it to do over again I would not have purchased this item. I would have put more money into a Vita-mix!

I thought I broke it, but that was not the case, I had just wash the lid and due to all the soap I moved the rubber liner up a bit so the lid did not lock correctly, so the machine would not turn on. the rubber liner needs to be even with the edge of the lid then make sure the safety arrows line up. I used the blender to make pear and apple sauce and I had the machine on 7 the power was enough to move the lid a hair so no power. It has never happen again and I don't think any thing is wrong with the machine I just had heavy fruit maybe or one apple too many.

You probably need to line up the base and top so the blender will work. There are a couple of arrows on the base and the lid that must be in line before the blender will operate. Try it!

I received it just before the holidays so I set it aside until yesterday when I turned it on and nothing happened!!!!!!! It won't turn on at all. I've tried everything. So I've been calling the company number on the back of the book but they have a recording saying that are too busy to take the call and to call back at another time. I've been trying to call for 2 days now. I'm so upset about this that I don't want anything to do with this machine! I want to return it if I can ever get through to the company!

Last week,I received Montel's "Living Well Health Master" as a birthday gift from my brother. I've made two items from the recipe books thus far,the blueberry smoothie and the balsamic vinaigrette. They both came out great and were delicious. The machine does its job; if everything is not properly aligned, it will not turn on. I would suggest re-checking the alignment of the interlocking parts.

Posted by John Borden at May 09, 2010 12:31 PM
This happened to me. I was shocked. HOWEVER, after looking at it in DETAIL, I found the problem. I GUARENTEE it is your problem too:

The lid and the blender have to be in the locked position. If you take the blender off the motor, you can see a raised groove with a tab in the middle. When it is all put together, that tab must be depressed or the unit won't turn on- most likely a safety feature so it doesn't turn on without the lid. Look at the blender, along the handle. You will see this lines up with that tab. Lock the lid on the blender. You will see that when you twist and lock the blender, it depresses the tab. Make sure you twist the lid TIGHT so it is locked and not just kinda twisted and "looks" like it is locked. To make sure this is it, with everything off (motor assy only), depress that tab with something and turn the power on. It won't start blending, you will just see everythign light up.

Re: Blender will not turn on

Posted by Markus Thorndike at May 15, 2010 06:14 AM
There are four reasons why it might not turn on:

1) The lid is not secured to the blender properly
2) The blender container is not secured to the base properly
3) You have gotten something trapped in the blades
4) The base has overheated.

In the first two cases, the blender should start working once the locks are lined up with the arrows on the lid/blender and the blender/base connections.

In the other cases, that reset button you found should reset the blender ONCE you've cleared the obstruction and/or allowed the base to cool (generally 30 minutes is recommended).

In your case, I'd imagine you haven't lined up the arrows and locks icons properly. Unless they are lined up EXACTLY, the blender won't work. This is a security measure, as the blender works at much higher speeds and much higher power than traditional blenders.

If I sound like a spokesperson, it's because I love this product. It has changed the way I eat and cook.

do you have a AC Voltage meter? Have you plugged in a lamp to see if it works? If there are 3-prong plug, have you tried a 3-prong drill in your outlet?

Sometimes the older sockets are defective and the new plugs do not touch the metal that delivers electricity.

check this:

this blender has THREE 'safety lockouts'

all 3 must be in place:

the base of the container must be in 'locked' position

the top cover must be in 'locked position'

(and these positions require some muscle power to engage!)

and the 3rd: oh i forgot the third .. might be the 'too hot shutoff' thing .. canceled via the reset button

Hopefully they can eraticate the problem. Because overall, I like the product and like to have it back soonest. It makes great smoothies and recipes on the menues provided. Athough, I did not try the the peanut butter yet. Hope this helps.

I seriously took it out of the box, washed it, spent maybe 10 minutes on the directions and whipped up a green smoothie right away. I'm on my second one too! Both of mine leak from the bottom of the pitcher a rusty brown liquid after a few months of use. Apparantly this is a faulty product and all of them will eventually do this. Now I just want my money back. To anyone considering buying Montel Williams Healthmaster: DON'T. I am not a competitor either, just a housewife living a healthy lifestyle. For the few months the Healthmaster worked, it was great though. Now I am getting a Vitamix. To all of the people who love theirs so far: enjoy it while you can because it is going to start leaking rusty liquid pretty soon. 200 plus dollars for a few months of use is too high of a price, at least a Volkswagon lasts, this does NOT!

I bought one it worked good for about a month. Then the pitcher started to leak. Called the coustmer service 1-3-10. The the motor stopped have been calling for shippig lable. No lable asked for supervisor they will call back. Your lable is in the mail. Well it is now 1-24-10. No call no lable I called chanel 6 consumer help line on Friday . I wonder if Montel knows the problems with this unit. Also I was hung up on by one of the coustmer service reps. I don't want this unit just my money $289.10 Just think twice. I liked what it did but now it is in the box it does not work. I felt good because it was from Montel that why I bought it.

Bad Blender

Posted by R. Smith at Nov 14, 2009 01:45 PM
Our Healthmaster blender is just out of warranty and is slinging brown rusty looking water out of the lower blender pitcher. I am fairly certain that the shaft or bearings are corroding already. Healthmaster said this is normal lubrication and only sell me a new picture for $49.00. Poor customer relations and poor engineering.

I received my HealthMaster on 8/11/09 and I absolutely loved this machine and was using it every day. On 11/13/09 it started leaking this brown liquid. I guess since its out of warrenty I have no choice but to run it until I can't run it anymore, then invest in a VitaMix. I should have checked out consumer reporst before I bought this thing. They don't even mention the HealthMaster, but the VitaMix is the highest rated on their list.

Omega 8005/8006 Juicer

Posted by Bill Berry at Nov 22, 2009 09:39 AM
When they talk about juicers they're only talking about centrifugal style which spin at very high speeds and sound like a jet engine in your kitchen. I did the homework & research online and bought an Omega 8005 (Chrome) Juicer with a single auger and what makes the VitaMix and Healthmaster different than the Omega auger style juicers is fiber. By throwing the whole fruit in the mixers everything is used. Personally, I reincorporate the pulp into my recipes, but the beauty about the juice is it is exactly the same as the mixers; everything is live. One thing I caught in the infomercial are the soups; if heated through friction created the live enzymes & phyto-nutrients are just as dead. Auger style; twin gear juicers are excellent for their quality of juice and with their other attachments are pretty darn good at sorbet, nut butter and pasta and as expensive as the HealthMaster. It is important to delineate a juicer from a mixer; both have benefits and while I strongly advocate fiber in the diet; fresh juice is an excellent way to get the needed nutrition directly into the bloodstream. When I drink a glass of fresh grapefruit juice, I don't want to be compelled to eat it with a spoon or a fork. I'm not implying the mixer doesn't have a place in the kitchen, but how many times was ice and water added to the mixer?

Omega 8005/8006 Juicer

Posted by Sabina at Apr 03, 2010 06:23 PM
I have the omega as well. I really like it but now I wonder if I am missing all the fiber by not using the whole veg and fruit. Then again, I must agree- friction heats up the contents and destroys some/all the nutrients. I wonder if the ice was not added-how hot would that juice be?

Thanks Bill, I was thinking the same thing!! Up until your message, everyone is concerned about how the product works (and I agree with all of them - why pay for a machine that doesn't work?) however, why pay for a machine that kills your enzymes? isn't that the point in the first place??? I thought to myself - has everyone forgotten that heat kills?? anyways, I am going to purchase my juicer and put the pulp back in if I feel like it.
thanks everyone for your comments, you saved me a lot of money!!

I received my health master in June, i've only used it 8 times, and in September the motor went out. It won't even turn on, yes it was aligned properly I was actually using it when it stopped working. I had the warranty so now its the end of November and I am still waiting on the bottom part of this blender. If I could do it again this would not be the machine to buy.

I bought mine in July 2009 over the phone and had it within a week without even paying the extra expedited charge. I was pleasantly surprised at this. I was also surprised at how loud this thing is. I use it 3 - 5 times per week juicing fruits, vegetables and almonds most of the time. I really love it but it has been oozing out a brown oily substance at the base for a few months now. I wrote to the customer service email provided at the website about this a few weeks ago but never heard back. I am assuming that this brown stuff means that mine will burn out or catch fire at some time soon. This was a big purchae for me as I only work part time so the information received here is making me sick. How could they charge so much money for such a bad product and not even service the multiple complaints that they are receiving? I guess I am one of the lucky ones where it has lasted "almost" a year of constant use. I will request a complaint with the Better Business Bureau once the thing dies on me. In the mean time, I never leave the item when I am using it now. I would hate to have my place catch on fire. I wish I had read these reviews before I purchased it. I will never look at Montell Williams the same way again!!

I was disappointed with the above. Mine wouldn't turn on either, because the cap was not aligned properly. It is difficult to open and close and to align properly. It is also overpriced, why not just buy a regular blender for half the price. It is also very noisy and when you call to order, they try and convince you to buy half the planet.

I thank all of you for your honesty, you have saved me from making a huge mistake.

I viewed your informerial and advertisement on TV and it is misleading and you build the product up to be more than what it is, which is misrepresentation. To began with I order two healthmasters and the second one was suppose to be for half price.

The first time I spoke with one of your
representative I informed her I expected two new healthmasters and she told me they both would be new. I asked her why would they use
the word refurbish if they both were new. The representative for Montel Health Master assured me that they both were new and she
would inform the company about using the word refurbish, because it was deceiving.

The second time I called customer serive and I asked where were the juicer that was I was suppose to received as advertised by Montel Williams about the first few callers would received a free juicer included with the purchase of the Wealthmaster, which enticed me to purchase the product in the first place. I attempted to make some juice with the Montel healthmster and it did not make the jucie, it puree the fruits but didn't come even close to what a normal jucice consistency would be. One reason is because it don't separate the pulp from the liquid. Now I understan why Montel offered the free juicer for the first 100 or whaever the number was now, however, when I received the Montel Healtmater the jucier I didn't received so I called the and inquired about the juicer and at first the representa-tive try to claim their were no offer of a free juicer, but I explained that I had copy of the advertisement and/or informerial the representative then stated I would receive the juicer within 25 days.

This is deceiptive advertisment and deceiving the public and Montel Williams should known.

I am also having problems with the refurbish Montel health Master the top is hard to lock and it sound different from the new.

I also would like to know what is the warranty on this product Montel alleged he was giving sixty (60) days if that is true I would like to know.

Look at the bottom of the blender if it is made in china then it is crap. Yes there is a bearing in the bottom of the blade. These are special high speed bearings that use a high temp high rpm lube. The blade and bearing should be made of a high grade stainless steel. I have seen some blenders get very hot and boil the lube out of the bearing, that is when the blender will start to make a terrible noise.

Just recvd mine and was looking forward to using it. However I decided to look up consumer reports on unit which I should have done prior to purchasing. I see lots of complaints about bearings, and noise but what concerns me the most and why I am returning the unit is that the plastic container is made from Plastic Resin Code #7 which is plastic combinations- may contain some relatively safe plastics but also may contain polycarbonates (hormone disrupters),or unique or uncommon plastic formulations. This might be particularly troublesome when making hot liquids in unit. #7 plastics are the hardest plastics to recycle and are seldom collected. This information available under Resin ID Codes for Plastics online. Since I want to eat healthy as well as live healthy I have decided to return unit. RA was obtained by calling customer service. UPS fees for return will be on me but lesson learned in doing more research upfront before buying.

Please don't be a fool like I was and buy Montels Healthmaster. It wore out the same time the warranty ran out! The brearings in the blender burned out which in-turn caused the motor to strip-out the gear union! And now they are charging me $50+ for shipping to replace it. Oh yeah,...They dis-connected the phone on me the 3 times I asked to speak to a supevisor. I also never got a return call from a supervisor as promised! Please save yourself much aggravation. Spend a couple extra bucks for the Vita-Mix!

Posted by Gray at Dec 15, 2009 06:10 PM
Something is fishy when they offer a stupid 100-year warranty on the motor, but the rest of the machine has a warranty of just a few months. Another thing that makes me mad is that Montel says that no other machine will do what his Healthmaster will do. He is outright lying, since he used to recommend the Vitamix. There is nothing the Healthmaster will do that the Vitamix will not. You're a liar, Montel.

from the sound of everything I've read, Montel's claim that that no machine does what this one does could be correct in that no other blending machine can screw over so many consumers as royally or as often.

I am going to be honest. I work as a rep for vit mix. I owned one about a year before I worked for the comany and love it. I have bought all my family members one since then. When it comes to the blend tec I will be honest and say that is the closest you can get to the real thing. However the digital buttons wear out quicker than the manual functions of a vita mix. When it comes to the health master I will say that I have never used it. What I will say is that if Jack Lelane couldn't sell it with his reputation, and until a year ago montel promoted the vita mix on his show and swore by it, and his md that is on his infomercial used to swear by the vita mix. You just have to wonder.

healthmaster drive gear

Posted by john at Dec 30, 2009 10:48 PM
Just received my unit. Everything looked ok but when I was going to place the pitcher onto the base I noticed that the round gear that the pitcher engages on the base that spins, was not very secure. It flops from one side to another, it does spin, but it has alot of side to side movement (floppy). Is this normal? I don't think so, because a high horsepower and high rpm device should be solid and not flop around. Any feedback is welcomed.

Thank you

After using the HealthMaster on about the 6th time since purchasing in August 2009, the motor suddenly began smoking and the machine turned itself off. After waiting a while, tried the reset button to no avail. It is finished. Customer service recording plays ads, explains long wait time, then hangs up. No alternate company contact for a required "return authorization" exists. Stuck with a $300 mistake? What about the 100 year motor warranty? Can anyone help? Certainly do NOT recommend anyone purchase anything on the montelwilliams website until customer service and product warranty claims are fulfilled!!

Living Well Healthmaster

Posted by Smoothiemaker at Jan 05, 2010 04:13 PM
I have never posted a review on anything before but now I feel compelled. I purchased my Montel Living Well Healthmaster less that 4 weeks ago. I was excited to get it and decided that the cost of my smoothie habit outweighed the cost of this "emulsifier". The first thing was the ordering process, the first rep sounded like she was drunk. She got all of my order info and when I questioned the fact that the offer I saw was for the 18 HP Professional model not the 17 HP she put me on hold for 35 min then hung up. The next day I called back and the gentleman was very nice, I even got the extended warranty. It arrived...It's huge, I was disappointed by the cheap plastic pitcher, you would think it would be glass for the amount it cost, but I thought I could get over that. The next issue was that from the first day of use it leaked some kind of oil from the top of the base, I thought it was just because it was new but it got worse with each use. Only used it 1 time every other day. The noise factor was horrible. It was so loud that you could hear it in the front yard, and my house is not small. I had to turn it on then take the dog out for the 3 minutes it ran. I know they advertise that it has the same power as a small boat but this thing sounds like a noisy generator or airplane (not kidding, I'm from Florida and my hurricane generator is not this loud). Then...the smoke started! I only make fruit smoothies (with a little baby spinach hidden). Thought the smoothies were great. At first a little motor smell, thought it was because it was new factory odor. Then at my first demo I gave to my friend after bragging on how great the smoothies were it started smoking. We are talking 3 weeks of light use. It caught on fire and we had to put it on the patio and open up all the doors and turn the fans on! So then I called customer service.... I was politely informed that I would have to wait 5-7 days for a UPS label to arrive by snail mail, then package and return the original unit. Once they received it they would send me a replacement back (approximately a 3 week process). I was told that perhaps it was a defective unit but this is a frequent issue. I let the young man know that waiting 3 weeks for another unit was poor customer service. He explained that thats just how the company does it. After telling him it makes me just want to get a refund, I was told that I was more than welcome to request one. (This was a polite customer service call on both our parts, he was just doing his job.) So I asked for the supervisor...... and was put on hold......Not available and will call me back.....No call back (oh and it was not lunchtime!) I love the idea of making smoothies at home, didn't even get to try that whole apple trick! I think I will be looking for another product. This is a poor product with inferior materials for what it cost and the customer service is horrible. Still waiting on that call

I was going to purchase the Health Master Blender, but I wanted to read the reviews. I am so glad I did. I have been comtemplating purchasing this product for about a week. Now that I have seen all of the negative reviews and horror stories, no thanks. I am looking into another product that blends everything with no pulp left behind. My sister has a Health Master with no problems, but I am not taking a chance, all of these bad reports out weighs her report. Thank you for all of the reviews, it saved me from going through the battle. I hope everyone problem will be resolved.

Scared I just ordered Montell Health Master

Posted by KP at Jan 09, 2010 10:09 AM
I just phone ordered (Jan 9, 2010)a standard Health Master emulsifier with 3 year extended warranty after watching Montell Williams show but before checking the Internet - an error on my part. Promotion by Montell Williams was a big influence.

Having read these reviews I am not only apprehensive about the functioning of the machine but also my being able to return it without hassle within in the 60 days - if I decide to return it. I definitely do not want to have to play with ANY machine to get it to function and the apparent rusting problem also adds to my apprehension.

I will update my post but do not expect to receive the Health Master unit for several weeks.

I just thought of another scarey something: does the several weeks delivery time reduce the 60 day return time?

Thanks for posting reviews.

I saw the last half of the infomercial and bought two this morning assuming I could trust Montel who BTW was on Oprah sniveling about all his suffering and pain and for him to have the nerve to sell an inferior product to people many of whom are sick as well just leaves me totally cold and cynical. I'm not even sure the order went through as the woman hung up before my questions were finished but she already had my Credit card number.

There is a legal right of 72 hours to cancel anything in Florida. When I called back, they said to call Sunday so after reading all these reviews and all the problems with smoke, leaks, fires, etc. too many red flags and I'm tired of being suckered into promise the world infomercials.

I had a VegiMix about 30 years ago but I don't remember that it would totally liquify everything. I recall that it was difficult to use so I ended up selling it as I didn't use it that much and I thought I would just juice in my Champion Juicer.

I have a 700 watt Oster blender $50 from Target that liquifies just about everything from apples to spinich, ginger, just fine. BTW, JFUI, the infra red Turbo Oven is all that they claim and both me and my friend are VERY HAPPY with that product.

Montel's Blender

Don’t waste your money. Words cannot express my dissatisfaction with the equipment I purchased and I am even more disappointed with the customer services provided. I purchased the Blender in August of 2009. I receive it about a week later. January 2010 the motor stopped working. While bending vegetables the motor started smoking and I immediately turned the unit off and unplugged it and emptied the contents. Waited several hours and tried to use the unit again it would not work. I used my unit a total of 15 times since I received it in August. I paid extra for all the bells and whistles only to be disappointed after using it a few times. Talking to Customer services was very frustrating and my only option is to return it at my expense and send 30 dollars with the broken unit so that a new unit can be sent back to me. If I had it to do all over I would buy a very good commercial grade blender from a store that would honor my return with no cost. I trusted Montel and this product and I was let down. I rarely buy thing off TV or the Net but my faith in Montel proved to be the wrong decision.

I have been thinking about ordering a HealthMaster, and have been so excited about the possiblity of getting something to help my family begin to have healthy foods. However, I just finished reading all of the comments about HealthMaster, and have almost decided not to buy one. My friend (in another state) has one. She has used hers every 2 or 3 days for the past month or so, and she has not had any problem with it. I don't want to spend money on something that will (sooner than later) cause trouble for me. What is the difference between HealthMaster and Vita Mix? Do they have the same health benefits? Has anyone had any remarkable health reports (changes) from using these blenders? I would appreciate your help with this.

I've had my vitamix for about 14 years, no problems - did have to replace the blade assembly once, and the coupling device (only a problem if you start the vitamix on high speed - now I start on slower speed and no problem there). Make a smoothie every day (with sesame seeds, almonds, apple, dates, etc.), as well as occasionally grinding grains for flour for pancakes (takes 60 seconds for that). About the only thing I know of that it won't blend (just as well) are date pits.

I have made juices with the vitamix, but it is a bit messy taking the pulp out. But it can be done.

Hi;
I am watching the Healthmaster infomercial and surprised to see so many negative reports on the machine onlinw.
It looks nice, but I will tell you that the ViaMix is a proven machine tht has been around for 20 years or more, I have one, ten years now and love it, I have made soups, juices, etc for years without one incidence of trouble. Save your money, pay a little extra and get the best there is, ViaMix. You wont be sorry, it does everything this infomercial says Montel's machine does....Good Luck.

I order the healthmaster blender thru the TV informercial. I chose the 4 payment. To my ammazement the billing department not only charged me the full payment of $239.94, they charge another $124.96 preautorization that was never disclosed in the explanation and confirmation of the financial transaction. Upon inquiry of the error and mis-inform charges. I was told that they can preauthorize my checking account and not disclose the transaction nor cost. This is unethical and I cancel my order. They need to be reported to what ever governing authority that monitors business practices of this sort. The billing department of Healthmaster of Montel Williams must think that the general public is gullible and stupid and they can do anything they desire as it pertains to charging your account for this blender. Word to the wise, DO NOT buy your blender over the telephone and make sure you get in writing all charges that may be charge to your account in processing the transaction.

I bought the HealthMaster and I am so disappointed, first of all I was charged for four payments and was told it was reduced to three payments. No sooner the last payment was made it stopped working. Customer Services agents are rude and unprofessional, Montel should be ashamed of himself selling this product that smokes so much that makes you want to call the fire department. Of course now you can't get your money back and they are surely going to send a refurbushed unit. Montel, I am calling Better Business Bureau and report this type of business practice. Is this the way you exploit people to get rich?

Unethical business practices

I had a similar horrible experience. I was given the run around by Health Master Pro customer service and their system hung up on me repeatedly...maybe it was a real person hanging up on me. I was never able to get a real person on the line until it was too late. The blender had already been shipped immediately on the very first day. I was told at the time of the order that it was supposed to be shipped in 4-6 weeks. I was unable to alter my order. After an internet search revealed some serious problems with the machine, (the jug could be ruined easily and people said this part could not be replaced without ordering a whole new unit) I wanted to add the insurance that I had been offered. No one told me in advance that I couldn't add it to the order the same day. I was told that they couldn't add this to my order. When I realized the customer service was terrible and the product was problematic, I just didn't want the product or to deal with this company at all. I didn't pick up the blender and let it go back to the company. In the end, I was charged shipping and handling of $58.00 but got nothing for my money. If you order this product, expect poor/rude/unavailable customer service and you may end up with a shipping charge if you change your mind. Once they have you in their spider's web, you won't get free. They will never give you an opportunity to change your mind...only a fee for being stupid enough to order from them in the first place. I don't like to deal with unethical companies so be warned.

I was super excited about getting this healthmaster so I called in and they dropped the price to only 4 payments of $39.00 and only $19.99 Shipping & Handling. Then to my surprise, the agent dropped the price to 4 payments of $33.99!! Great deal right?? Well since I felt really pressured I told the agent to call me back in five minutes which she agreed to. Non even a minute went by when a different agent called me and I told her I was offered the $33.99 deal and she told me "That's the price for a REFURBISHED device, not a new one. The agent must of forgotten to tell you that." I was pissed that they would lie to me about it in the first place and did not place my order after all! It's like going to buy a NEW car and after you sign all the papers, the dealer gives you a USED car and says, "OOPS, I forgot to tell you it was a used car."

Im glad I came on here before I orderd

I was excited about the infomercial and hastily ordered one for my smoothie shop. However, I had to refuse the order because they are not for commercial use. I called back one half hour after ordering and they would not allow me to cancel. They said I had to call the next day. I forgot and tried 2 days after and it was already shipped out. I had to wait for it to arrive, then refuse it. When I refused I was charged a whopping $59.97 shipping charge.

I tried to cancel right after I ordered also, and was told to call back the next day--so I did, and was told it had been shipped already! When I received it, It looks like it has been used. It does not do what the ad says, its a mess to get the food out of the container, the recipe books are vague and untrue, the general info is also very vague. This cheep china made piece of cr*p should be recalled! Now what?

I bought one yesterday. Brought it home, turned it on, and it would shut off on its own after a few seconds. I turned it back on many times, kept shutting off randomly. Then one of very cheap plastic parts, the cover, broke. I returned it today and will get the Vitamix, which is twice the price but I know it does the job. This thing is cheaply made. You can't put a V8 engine in a Yugo and expect good results.

Ok everything people have wrote about their problems with this piece of garbage is true. I should have read reviews prior to purchasing. I don't see how Montel could promote this cheaply made machine. Save your money and head aches, buy a different machine. Some of the bad things with this is the motor tends to blow out on first or second use (just a quick note, the customer service rep "Keble operator # T71" said that "it's normal for somke to billow out of the machine on first use.") What a load of crap. The customer service will put you on hold for 10-20 min at a time, they are very rude and unhelpful. If you try to return it they will tell you that you should expect an email in 2-3 days?... EMAIL IS INSTANT!!! I hear people never get there return lables and get stuck with no refund, lets wait and see. I will be contacting the BBB and my Legal consultant. Montel if you have any integrity, fix these problems.

Very dissatisfied with the service!

When ordering the Health Master on the 10th of the month, I asked the person about changing my payment date because I get paid 2 times a month. He told me to call customer service and they can change it. I just called and they told me they cannot change the date. If I don't have the money in the account when they take it out, my courtesy coverage will pay it & charge me $28. If this happens the next 3 months, that means I will be paying an extra $84 for this machine. They should have told me that when I asked before I placed my order.

I also purchase blender and have same problem with blender will not turn on. It is related to closing lid tightly which is impossible unless you have immense hand strength. This is NOT something most women or any elderly should purchase. It can be done after many painful long minutes attempting to reshut and seal lid or getting my 200 pound teenagers to close it for me- even they had to manipulate it.
DO NOT BUY this machine unless you are a masochist. They talk about no question return- that is true they will refund you money leass S$H which by time you ship it to yourself for $30 plus return it for $30 you are out $60 and have nothing for it. I called about return after a frustatring month and after finding out I would be out $60 decided to just keep it and try to work with it- bad mistake it is useless, frustrating to operate bulky and sits on my counter mocking me and I should have lost the $60 as a lesson and then at least have something bak in my pocket. DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE IT IS A RIP OFF

But still didn't get full refund. Still short the money of 14 dollars for sending it back. Not to say all the vegies cost for trying it. The machine maybe changed but their way of business is sorry.

HealthMaster Blender

Posted by Anonymous User at Mar 28, 2010 08:09 PM
I bought one of these a few months ago. It worked great until a black, grease-like substance started getting into my smoothies through the bottom of the pitcher. I requested a return label and got one two weeks later. I had to ship the base separate from the pitcher because I couldn't find a box big enough to properly package both together. I shipped them on Feb. 24 and yesterday (3/26), I still hadn't heard anything. When I called yesterday, the representative who answered the phone asked me if I had tracked the packages. I told him I hadn't - because I didn't pay extra for a tracking number. I paid for insurance, knowing this meant the PO could track it if necessary. He then told me they hadn't received either package and there was nothing he could do. I went to the PO today and had them track both packages, which were received at the proper address 3 days after I shipped them! I called HealthMaster again this morning and was asked if I had tracked the packages - when I said yes, the representative miraculously found in the system that they had been received! The representative promised me I would have a new blender in two weeks. I told her to keep it and return my money - I've already purchased a different product in the month I was waiting to hear from them. The representative couldn't give me a refund - she could only request one "from accounting". We'll see. Just a warning - make sure you insure the package before sending yours back!

BPA ALERT!!! NOT BPA-FREE

Posted by Alex Sobieski at Mar 29, 2010 10:54 PM
After reviewing all the comments on this site, I called the info line and asked if the #7 plastic pitcher was certified as BPA-FREE and if they have it in writing.

The lady didn't know what I was talking about, so she asked her manager. After a minute or two on hold, she came back with a very "canned response"

-"My manager informed me that our blender is not BPA-Approved, but it IS FDA approved, so it's safe."

BULL SH**

BPA is no longer legal in baby products and is fast being taken out of most plastic products.

Hard "glass-like" plastics often #6 and higher, contain BPA and other chemicals that interfere with the body's hormone system, either by blocking or by imitating hormones...

It's terrible for you.

I don't know why any person serious about getting healthy would every get a product that leaches toxins into the fresh, healthy foods they think they are eating.

After that call, I just bought a Vitamix 5200.

(yes it was more money, but it does all the same things.)

HEY MONTEL -- if you can back a product with a glass pitcher or a BPA-FREE plastic pitcher (like the vitamix), I'll be happy to save the $150 and buy your product. Until then, my life/health and that of my kids is not worth saving $150.

This review is honest, true and complete to the best of my knowledge and research. I am not in any way being compensated or asked to place this post.

STAY SAFE AND HEALTHY!

I have been seriously considing ordering one of these machines.
Needless to say. that after all of these bad reviews, I will not.
All you folks looking to return your machines should look at the options given to you under the terms of the credit card that you used to make your purchase. I believe that my card gives me a 3 month window for filing a consumer complaint and getting a refund. If The health Master customer service wont listen to you....your Credit Card Customer Service rep will.

It ran but didn't chop up most the foods.

Right off the bat, it didn't work right ..
so I watched the ad over, and over... read all
the pamplets... Decided to try it again.
Finally it worked perfectly and I love it.

At first I hit the ON/off button, the motor turned on immy. so I went up to the button where
you dial it up to 8....the carrots, celery, pepper didn't get chopped up but the tomatoes was like hot soup.

Now I found out it shouldn't have started up right away before hitting the 3rd button called
the RUN/start button. but it did, and since it
did run there was no reason for me to look for a Run button to get everything chopped up.

Now I hit the ON/off button (1st button) and then I hit the third button (RUN/start)
everything gets emulsified as it should...
I hope this helps some of you our there.....

I understood from the TV ad that this blender had a wonderful plan to lose weight healthily and comfortably.
I sent it to someone I thought might use it, but I hear from them that there is no real diet plan, but the recipes are chock full of calories and everything fattening that you can think of. I'm very disappointed, also embarrassed, because I thought it would be helpful
to them, not a reason to gain more weight!
For me, this is a real bust. I want to return it.

While shopping for kitchen items at a national retailer we came across the HealthMaster reduced to $49!!! Why? Someone returned it to the store because it would not turn on. So we took a chance and thought we would see if we could get it to work. The store assured us that we could get our money back if we were unsuccessful. Sure enough I got it home, put it together and...no power. Then i got out the owners manual dvd. Followed the instructions and realized the cap was not on completely, and i mean it was off by about 1/16 of an inch. So i tightened the lid to specs and voila!!! It works! I love it. I have used it about 3 times a day since i bought it. I just feel bad that someone else returned it because they never even opened the owners manual!!

I bought the blender for my parents and after only 2 months of usage the motor dies. When my Dad call them about the problem they said they will mail out a new motor in 5-7 days after 10 days my Dad called again now it will take an additional 3 weeks! First of all a brand new machine should last more than 2 months!!

Do not buy this item!!! Bad product and bad service!! By the way it's not free replacement, you have to pay about 40.00 in S&H and of course you have to send them a check first before they will send out the replacement motor!

Rusting/Leaking Container

Posted by Mark G at Apr 24, 2010 05:39 PM
I have contacted Healthmaster Customer Service and they admitted right away to a problem where some of the units leak the oil from the motor but of course will not mix with the contents of the healthmaster. They assure me that these units are completely covered, and they will replace the unit without the customer having to pay the shipping costs. They further confirmed that they are looking into the issue to provide a permanent solution. Reading between the lines of the reviews offered, I get the distinct impression that other vendors/sales people are trying to capitalize on this issue. I have purchased a healthmaster and I am expecting to recieve it within the next three days. The customer Service rep I spoke with was very friendly and eager to help, I explained that I already purchased the unit. After reading the numerous reviews, I was almost inclined to cancel my order, except I felt this underlying tone of sales people basically bashing the units and exploiting the issues in order to sell their own. I was a salesman for many years and one thing I never did was "bash" the competetion. I would suggest that anyone looking to purchase the healthmaster take the reviews "with a grain of salt" and know that the company will stand behind the product. The service representative confirmed that if nothng is wrong wth the healthmaster than indeed the customer returns it as his/her own expense. He stated that they had numerous cases where customers called in and learned that because they did not pick up the manual even once, they had trouble. Once customer service walk them through it, the issues "disappeared". I now eagerly await the arrival of the health master. I would also implore anyone that had a unit leaking an "oily substance" to call customer service right away so they can replace the unit as promised at their own expense.

I take it all back!!! The blender was awesome but motor blew up on the third use. Smoke poured out. Customer Service acknowleged that it was probably a bad one as this happens. "Maybe 3 or 4 out of 1000". They could not guarantee I would not get another bad one. I am sending back under the 30-day return policy and I already ordered a vita-mix. By the way the reason Montel stopped endorsing vitamix (He owns a least one) is that he felt he should be paid to endorse it. Vitamix has never paid anyone for endorsements. ANyway bottom line you can't beat vitamix. In consumer reports they came up with a 89 the closest was the Hamilton Beach Tempest at $424 dollars. On the vitamix thsy sell reconditoned units for a lot less with same 7 year warranty. The models have new pitchers and motors are checked out. They come from demos and returns. Just click the comparison chart to see the reconditoned units they have in stock. Finally a tip for anyone not being able to get their money back. Put a claim through your credit card company. It takes time but you will get your money back due to the fact that you never got your product. I already put a claim as the company promised me a return label I have not seen yet. I will get back every penny including the shipping and taxes I paid.

The Importance of Dark Leafy Green Vegetables

Posted by Markus Thorndike at May 15, 2010 06:14 AM
I've been reading a number of reviews and comments on this site, and have noticed that a number of people focus on using this product with fruits and/or if they include vegetables, they add mostly carrots and/or celery.

Fruits are great, but if you are truly trying to be healthy you are missing perhaps the most important elements: dark leafy green vegetables.
They contain key vitamins and minerals that are harder to obtain through other sources. By "dark leafy green" I mean vegetables such as kale, chard, spinach, dark lettuces, romaine.

Also, if you are trying to reduce caloric intake, know that fruits on the whole are more calorie-dense than most vegetables. In addition, because you are emulsifying them, their natural sugars are easier to digest by the body. Though much better by FAR than injesting processed sugar or corn syrup, know that fruit emulsification and juicing increases the glycemic index of the food in question. The higher the glycemic index of the food, the more insulin the body needs to produce to process that food. Insulin is also one of the hormones that tells the body to store fat.

I would strongly encourage you to add some dark leafy greens to many of the drinks and foods you make with this juicer.

Here is a recipe for Green Alkalizing Soup, which uses kale and spinach. It is highly nutritious and tastes surprisingly good (though don't expect it to be sweet!).

* 1 avocado
* 1 cucumber
* 5-8 stalks celery
* 6 leaves of kale
* 1/4 - 1/2 bunch spinach
* large handful of fresh parsley
* a few fresh basil leaves
* small handful of cilantro
* 1 tsp fresh ginger
* 1 lemon (rind optional)
* dulse seaweed flakes to taste
* a little bit of water (1/2 cup to 1 cup)

Start with the cucumber and water. Using as little water as possible, emulsify the cucumber. You'll probably need to use the tamper. Now add the lemon, celery and avocado. Next add all the other ingredients EXCEPT the dulse seaweed. If the soup is too thick add more water, but only just enough. Once the mixture is thoroughly emulsified, turn off the machine and add the dulse flakes. Pulse 2-3 times to mix in the flakes.

The recipe above is NOT exact, and you may have different tastes than I do. You might want more avocado or cucumber. Also, vegetables grown in different places can also have different tastes. So do experiment until you find what works best for you.

If serving immediately, add and emulsify enough ice to cool the soup down to the temperature you desire. As with all emulsified fruits and vegetables, the sooner you eat/drink them, the better. Otherwise, chill in the fridge until ready to serve.

I was very surprised how quick the delivery was, it took about 3 days. Took the Blender out of the box and couldn't believe how large it was! It wouldn't fit under my cabinets so, I put it back into the box and send it back. Received a notice that the company HAD RECEIVED the Blender. That was over a week ago and STILL HAVEN'T received my deposit. I called customer service and was told it would take 9 days for me to receive my credit. I told him isn't it funny how immediate it was taken out of my account, but when it comes to a refund it is going to take about nine days? This company is more than Happy to take your money, but is Very SlOW when it comes to the return. Besure to check the other comments, for I had made the mistake in NOT Checking before ordering. Wished I had, it Would have MADE a Difference.

Another Bad Review

Posted by David at Jun 21, 2010 06:34 AM
Same problem - light use - 3 months later the jar seal failed and leaked oil. The jar lid is very difficult to lock into position without first moistening. The control buttons do not work smoothly.

AND... This unit is hyped as a emulisfier for healthy vegetable juice mixtures of various types, yet there is not one recipe for such a drink included. On the CD that comes with the product, they show adding vegetables and presto, liquid juice. But you need to add copious amounts of water to make it happen. As the demo continues, instructions are given on what to add, but no mention when adding the gallon of water.

It is big and noisy.

Fortunatly I purchased from Bed Bath and they will take it back.

This is a cheaply made, poorly engineered product trying to grab would-be Vita Mix customers by promising to do the same thing for half the price. They rely on over-marketing to sell, then delay tactics to discourage irrate customers hoping they go away and therby make their profit. Not a very good business plan.

Unless you are masochistic and injoy inflicting pain upon yourself, do not buy this product! You'll be glad you didn't.

returning my healthmaster

Posted by david at Jun 26, 2010 08:29 AM

I watched at least some of that commercial a half dozen times before ordering. I did not research the product. I was compelled by a pity-sell done through an MS survivor and probably gave Montel too many points for illness when as it turns out he is just reselling a repackaged Jack LaLanne loser product. (My mom purchased one of Jack’s blenders from the manufacturer, Tri-star in which the container leaked where the blades assembly was part of the blender container and replacement parts were no longer available) When I ordered over the phone I became suspicious as I used the automated ordering system which "automatically" tries to sell you upgrades and more products etc. I did "upgrade" to the ultra or whatever they call it for more horsepower etc. and at more cost. I am fairly certain this is the same model they show on the infomercial. My purchase came to $309.90 including $39.98 for shipping.

I received the product very quickly and used it about 4 times before the motor died suddenly after about 30 seconds at mid speed. No smell of anything burning just suddenly stopped. I bought this product because the infomercial seems to emphasize the health aspects of the machine, but the included recipe books include 2-3 vegetable based drinks and the rest are basically fruit smoothies and gelatos and sorbets and cakes and breads. Most of the recipes boast the addition of fructose, simple syrup or "organic sugar" I guess the subliminal hope that organic sugar is better than ddt-laced mad cow sugar.

Customer Service answered the phone relatively quickly and says i will have a return document emailed to me within a few hours and if i write refund on the return label I should get one, minus shipping. crossing my fingers on that.

In the end since I had to pay for initial shipping my calculations are that I made four smoothies/juiced drinks for $10 each.

June 30,2010,

I just wrote on the rusty leaking Pitcher. I really loved the spinch, tofu and cantalope shakes I Had been making untill it started to leak rusty fluids. I really think Montel Williams needs to think twice before he indorse's any products. I am very disapointed that I had to pay a shipping charge of $24.99 to get another pitcher and have not had this product for a year . Maybe the company should refund everyone their $$$$ for this product that does not work right. I wish I read all these reviews before I purchased this product, but I had faith watching Montel indorsing this product. Jerri Plattsburgh NY

Bearing failure

Posted by Greg at Jul 25, 2010 07:31 PM
I have had the Health Master for about 4 months now and probably made 8 smoothies, and I used it once to make the vegetable soup recipe in the book that comes with it. After about the 5th or 6th smoothie, a black substance came out from the bearing, and now it is binding up. I have also read reviews from other people that had the exact same thing happen. Apparantly the bearing is not sufficient for the blender. Other than that it is ok, just not very well built if it only lasts for less than a dozen smoothies.

I brought the blender and it leaked oil all over my counter top, and when ever you used it was so loud you couldn't be in the same room with it. Also the blender would stop working have to keep reseting it. This is the worst blender out and customer service is a joke! They need to be trained in customer service and politeness! Wouldn't recomend it to my ememy.

DO NOT BUY -- COMPANY WILL NOT HONOR WARRANTY

Posted by Rodolfo Davila at Aug 15, 2010 09:13 AM
After watching the infomercial ten times, I broke down and purchased the Montel William's MY Health Master. Biggest mistake!! I bought the extended warranty to make myself feel better about all the bad reviews.

Four months after I bought it, and the full return policy had expired, the machine broke down. I called the company, asked them to replace and well, after eight calls and six months, I still don't have the replacement part I need or a refund!!!

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT -- WARNING!! COMPANY WILL NOT HONOR WARRANTY, POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, TERRIBLE DEVICE!!!

I was (and still is)terribly deceived by this product. I believe I received an inferior product This blender performed like the competition they showed where the other ordinary blender mushed the ingredients. I poured water into the jar and received a jar ful of mush. The speed button went to 8 the first time and after that only went to 5. I wanted something to replace my juicer and oster blender but I have to go back to those two trusty "friends". I do hope I get my money back. As a senior I feel I have been hijacked for wanting to improve my health. GOD HELP US

I 've had to return the Healmaster 3 times because after normal use, it just stopped working. They offerred to replace it last week, but I let them know that I wanted a return label and I would notify them when I was ready to order another one. Not in this lifetime. Good infomercial, bad product.

Thanks for all the reviews. I just ordered the Health Master a few minutes ago on QVC. Please pardon my short note. I have to go cancel my order.

Do not buy Health Master, You will Regret

Posted by Wilson at Sep 01, 2010 11:06 AM
You may think you are getting a good deal buying a Montel Williams Health Master for $199 plus $29.99 (Shipping) or less (QVC, $169.20 plus $12.97 shipping), but you are only get a three month warranty and there are many complaints found on the internet about the blender motor not working or the pitcher leaking brown rusty colored liquid from the bottom (not sanitary and not acceptable).

According to the Health Master websites, myhealthmaster dot com and healthmastervs dot com, the FAQ page states the blender is 21 inches high.

Blendtec Total blenders are 15.5″ high. VitaMix blenders are 20.5″. Both Blendtec and VitaMix home blenders average $379-$400, but the blenders last for years.

The Health Master website states the HM can replace a 10″ cooking knife, a ricer, a hand mixer, a meat grinder, an immersion blender, an ice cream maker, and a juicer. Ha! Try to make cake batter or cookie dough in a Health Master. Try to handmade ground beef in a Health Master.

I had a Blendtec HP3A blender ($325 special price) which I gave to my sister-in-law and I now have a Blendtec Total blender ($280 used from eBay). Compared to the Montel Health Master, Blendtec does not require locking the lid or locking the pitcher before use. Blendtec uses a very easy rubber gripper lid and a very easy square pitcher. You do not need to twist and turn to use the Blendtec unlike the HM’s pitcher and pitcher lid. For cooks who need manual speed control, the VitaMix is good, but for simple smoothies the Blendtec is better. The blendtec has pre-programmed buttons and the motor will stop by itself so you cannot burn out the motor.

Using the Health Master to make hot soup with cold water is ridiculous. Why would you want to run your blender motor for 8-minutes when you can just use hot water. Montel did the same hot soup demo on QVC. He ran his blender for 8-minutes. Insane. Whenever I see the VitaMix demonstration at my county fair, the demonstrator always uses hot water when he makes vegetable soup with chicken broth cubes.

Canceled

I just ordered the Health Master blender yesterday WITHOUT researching it. I too thought that if someone lie Montel was backing it that it should be a great product. Then I went online and saw all these reviews.... I was shocked to read so many problems with this product. I called this morning to cancel my order and thought the fun was about to begin when the message said my wait time was 66 MINUTES! This is 8:45 in the am Eastern time. Well, it only took about 5 minutes before someone answered. I told her I wanted to cancel and within a few minutes it was done and I had a cancellation email. I will watch my credit car closely and make sure that charge doesn't show up. I'll update my comment box if anything else happens.

I'm a single mom with Lupus and was really excited when I saw the informercial this morning. With all these bad reviews I don't want to spend the money. Anyone have a good experience with the Health Master Blender?
