The infomercial clip

I remember when my mother used to watch the Jack Lalanne TV exercise show back in the 70's.  He was, and is still, really fit.  He used to perform different feats on his birthday, like pulling 100 people in boats while swimming.  He includes black and white clips from that original TV in his infomercial.  Clearly people really love him, but is Jack Lalanne's Power Juicer a good juicer?

The Jack Lalanne Power Juicer promises & claims:

  • Get 30% more juice than other juicers- this could save a lot of money considering the cost of fresh fruits and vegetables today.
  • Lifetime warranty-  Is this your lifetime, the juicer's, or Jack Lalanne's?
  • The juicer's motor is "whisper" quiet- Nice feature
  • Save time by not having to cut things up- I bet you still have to.

The juicer comes with a fifty recipe juicing book with recipes to increase your energy and health.

They use the standard infomercial format of stating a higher price in number of payments, taking away one payment, and in the case of this juicer, taking away yet another payment to make it "half off."

The host tells you to ask the operator about the Deluxe model juicer when you call.  I don't know why they cannot just tell you about it in all of the time they have in a 30 minute commercial.  I guess they get better sales conversion by forcing you to decide on the upsell in the moment without any time to think.

I don't think there is any real difference between the deluxe model and the regular model, but the Deluxe model is stainless steel on the exterior- which helps with veggie staining that can occur on the plastic on the regular juicer.  You may also get a few extra accessories for the juicer when ordering the deluxe.

Jack LaLanne Power Juicer

I have had the JLL Power Juicer Deluxe (but lost it in my divorce) and now have the regular JLL Power Juicer. I LOVE the juice that comes out of it. It is completely natural and tastes wonderful. It is pretty quiet. Of course, certain foods juice more quietly than others, but overall, it is really quiet. You can juice almost any fruit or vegetable whole - as long as it will fit in the chute - with the exception of bananas and avocados. These are not intended to be juiced but rather blended in a blender. Peaches and other foods with large pits must have the pits removed first. For best results, it is recommended that you juice fruits and / or veggies in a certain order. For example, if juicing berries and fruits together, it is recommended that you put the berries in first. Since they are not as big, they have less juice. Putting your apple or pear in after the berries, for example, will help "wash out" the remaining berry juice. Cleanup is quick and simple if you do it immediately after juicing while the pulp is still wet. In fact, you can simply rinse under running water. The one down-side is that there are approximately 5 parts that have to be cleaned, but they rinse off beautifully. For maximum health benefits, you should drink your juice immediatley. Vital nutrients begin to die within minutes, so don't juice until you are ready to actually drink it. I, personally, prepare my meal, and then juice my drink right before I sit down to eat. This juicer was a Christmas gift from my family, and I'm so glad to have one again. Use it as directed and I think you will be happy with it. So far, I am.
