This Total Gym workout system pitched by Chuck Norris and Christy Brinkley promises that you will see a difference in just 60 days.

Chuck Norris has been using the Total Gym system for about 32 years since incurring a shoulder injury.  He was hooked after it healed his shoulder in 6 weeks time.  Christie Brinkley has been using and endorsing the Total Gym for 12 years.

They claim that they Total Gym comes with over 60 different exercises, including routines for beginners, intermediate, and advanced users.  The Total Gym workout programs offer both resistance training and cardiovascular routines.

The Total Gym works with a pulley system that basically allows you to use the weight of your own body.  Changing the incline of the machine gives more resistance.  I guess if you are really heavy you can get a really good workout:-)

They explain in the infomercial that to develop more bulk, you do fewer repetitions with higher incline. To get leaner, more fat burning workout, you do more reps at a lower incline.  They also say that just by varying your hand angles while holding the pulley handles you can workout a completely different muscle.

One big trend in workout equipment is the idea of a total body workout.  Other exercise equipment TV pitches also promise this ability.  Simply by working out your whole body at once, instead of just one muscle at a time, you can get more complete workouts in less time.

There are a number of different models to choose from including the XL, XLS, Platinum, Ultra, 1000, 1100, 2000, 3000 etc.

There are also accessories you can purchase such as the ab crunch attachment & exercise charts.  You can also buy parts, manuals and other extras online.

The Total Gym has been around a while, so you can save a little money by buying a used Total Gym online.

The Total Gym machine sounds like a solid way to get a good workout.  Have you used it?  How well does it work?  Please add your review of the Total Gym.

I bought the Total Gym XLS directly from the company on March 18, 2008. I must say you will be sore the first couple of days and see results within a week with continued use. Just last month I purchased the Ab accessory and used the first day and can really feel and see the differnces within about 3 days. The Total Gym has well worth my money and no annual gym membership fee. The key is consistency

Two Thumbs Up

I've had a Total Gym (the heavy duty model) for over a decade due to spinal problems that are aggravated by machines/exercises that compress the spine. It works very well to mobilize the spine and work muscles. I have the Pilates add-ons and love using it for Pilates. My machine is the same as the one at my physical therapist's office - very high quality.

The only problem I've had is that I need help to adjust and to get on/off when in pain.
