Topsy Turvy Tomato Planter

Grow your tomatoes upside down with the Topsy Turvy Tomato Planter
Bookmark and Share

If you want large delicious tomatoes will the Topsy Turvy Tomato Planter do the job? They say that you can grow peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, and other things upside down. The plant benefits from the nutrients and water feeding by gravity. You don not have to bend or dig, just drop the plant in, dump in the dirt, and water.

I have been reading a lot of posts online about this upside down gardening method.  Some of the issues people seem to have are not uncommon to growing a regular tomato.  Wind, sun, and water are important to any living plant.

Heavy wind can strain the Topsy Turvy supports and make them fall.  Be sure to consider the weight of wet dirt and hopefully large plant with heavy fruit.  Consider what would happen to your tomato planter if a strong wind blew in and knocked it around.  Some of your tomatoes branches might become broken if they are too close to walls, posts, or other handing plants.

Water and sun are really important for tomatoes.  They like a lot of both.  If you hang it indoors or under a porch or patio cover your tomato may get less water and light of than it should.

Does does the Topsy Turvy Tomato Planter work well? Is it worth the money? Add your review.

Wonderful. I got the orignial one about 6years ago or whenever they hit the market. I loved those best! I got the one with 3 pockets and a stand this year. It is okay, but it is way too heavy with 3 plants coming out of it. I am going to see if I can put my others on the stand. I bought about 9 of them and gave them for gifts. WE all did well with them. Beware of that new one because it really is not what it should be - too much weight - took a long time to come and then had a hole in it - of course they sent me another one and that took 2 more months. I had to use the one with the hole in it. I have one for next year, though -just watch putting 3 small plants in it. They do not want to grow like the others, the are all over the place and trying to grow upward and everywhere - whereas the original one reall y does grow up and then the weight lets it head downward - excellent. You can buy them everywhere for 9.99. Go there because the shipping and handling is way more than the product if you buy it from the company.
