The Shark Navigator vacuum claims to never loose its suction power.

Shark Navigator Vacuum Cleaner Review

The new Shark Navigator vacuum cleaner is stealthily advancing on competitors in its class, even challenging the heavy hitter of the industry, Dyson. A frequent and popular infomercial item, it continues to gain support as user reviews pour in. Consistently, it‘s rating 4 out of 5 stars in almost all consumer reviews.

The Euro-Pro Shark Navigator (NV22L, NV22LCO, NV22T, NV22W series) is a lightweight, compact vacuum cleaner designed with the full-sized features of an upright vacuum in a package that is half the size. The Shark Infinity Technology encompasses cyclonic cleaning power with twin motors, one for the brush bar and one for suction. However, both motors are conveniently powered through one switch. The Euro Pro Navigator utilizes bagless technology, maneuverability and efficiency with superior suction and on board tools.

The Infomercial Pitch

The makers of the Shark Steam Mop  also have been pitching the Shark Navigator no-loss-of-suction vacuum cleaner. They claim its the next generation of no suction loss vacuums on the market, comparable to the Dyson but cheaper. Is the Shark Navigator vacuum really a lot better than regular vacuums and other similar type vacuums on the market?

In general, people seem to LOVE this vacuum.  Reviews on Amazon

are mostly very good.

 Main Vacuum Features

The main features of the Shark Navigator Upright Vacuum Cleaner include:

  • Upright bagless design
  • Lifetime washable HEPA filter
  • Lifetime belt
  • Rubberized easy-glide wheels
  • 12 inch cleaning path
  • Motorized brush roll with shut-off switch
  • 12 inch stretch hose
  • On-board tools include rotating pet hairbrush, crevice tool and dusting brush
  • Ergonomically designed hand grip
  • 30-foot cord
  • 10-amp motor
  • Weight: Less than 20 pounds(15-18lbs)
  • Price: less than $199
  • Warranty: 5 years

The Vacuum Cons

  • Dust cup is too small and fills fast, requiring frequent emptying.
  • Vacuum head is small, requiring more time for larger areas
  • Some complain of TOO MUCH SUCTION especially for area rugs.  Maybe that is the reason for the smaller head :-)
  • A few say head is too tall for some under furniture cleaning.

Shark Pros

  • The suction is amazing
  • Long warranty
  • Lightweight and easy to maneuver
  • Fantastic with pet hair- On board pet hair attachment
  • 30 foot power cord good for extra coverage

Competitors

Dyson, Eureka and Hoover as well as other vacuum cleaner manufacturers produce high-end vacuums with bagless technologies and cyclonic cleaning. However, compare the price range of under $199.00 for the Navigator while prices range from $299.00 for a Eureka Ultra Whirlwind and Dyson products sell for $600.00 for a basic model. The prices spiral upwards of $1000.00 for a fully equipped vacuum.

Many have tested the Shark by vacuuming the floor with their old vacuum first and then going over their floors again with their new Navigator.  They are amazed at the amount of left over dirt and hair the Shark picks up on the second pass.

Summary
The Euro-pro Shark Navigator is lighter than the competitors with an attractive price tag and provides accessories that are useful to the consumer. The Navigator is a solid purchase amongst the many full size bagless upright vacuum cleaners and has certainly proven that fact with consumers. In fact, many consumers went on to purchase the Shark steam pocket mop to complement their Navigator purchase.

Shark Navigator vacuum.

Where did all that dirt come from just one room! I was shocked at the amount. Yes, the base that is cleaning cleans a smaller area at a time, which could mean it is cleaning deeper. Being smaller allows getting into smaller spaces and between legs of chairs! Renting, and using this vacuum the first time, makes the carpet looks better than it ever has! Thanks. Yes, it was more expensive than many others, but in my opinion well worth it because of the lifetime warranty on the belt and no bags/etc to continually purchase, and easy disposal of the "dirt" without having to touch it!

Host of Shark Navigator Infomercial

Posted by TW at Sep 03, 2009 05:44 PM
So here's what I'm wondering,..... There appears to be a female host on one of the Shark Navigator infomercials along with the (supposed) CEO of the company. The CEO (male) keeps calling the host by the name of "Amy". But she sure looks an awful lot or suspiciously like,.... olympic ice skater Nancy Kerrigan. Is it her?????? If so,... why the name change for the infomercial?? Since everybody already recognizes her.

I got the Shark Navigator around Christmas time but since we own our own company in PA and its a winter business I didn't actually open and use the Navigator for months later. To be honest with you it is the worst purchase I have ever made. The bald guy who does the infomercial should be ashamed of himself for all the lies he tells. First of all the hose is to short and so you are continually pulling the vaccum behind you and the anti tip hose hook is a joke. The vaccum tips so easy (because the front of the sweeper is so small) and it falls and hits you in the back and let me tell you it hurts!! I have all wood floors so I use the attachments more that the sweeper. It's to late to send it back and get a refund so I'll just toss it aside and take my loses but I just want everyone to know this product SUCKS!!

Shark Navigator as Seen on TV

WARNING! WARNING!! WARNING!! DO NOT ORDER THE SHARK NAVIGATOR FROM AN INFOMERCIAL! IT'S A SCAM. I placed an order the Shark Navigator after watching the infomercial on June 5. The sales rep was "Carolyn" and she said I would get the Navigator for $199 plus $29.95 S&H. And I would get the Shark Steam Mop for free...just pay the $15.95 S&H. On June 10 I had not gotten a confirmation for my order so I called and asked for a copy of the Shipment Confirmaton so I could track the shipping. As quoted by Carolyn, I would be billed a total of $244.90. The Shipment Confirmation show me being billed $325.66! When I called , they said I ordered some additional "chargeable" items that added $80.56 to my order. (They didn't even mention any additional items in the infomercial). Now they say I have to either keep the items including the ones I didn't order, or return the entire order without ever opening it. That would cost me S&H handling to send it back and they won't refund the S&H I paid to get the order. I have talked to four people at their customer service number and they all tell a different story.

would you happen to have the phone number for the infomercial? I ordered one on July 8th and I haven't received an email for tracking or anything like they said I would. I will check back on this site to see if I get the number from you thanks.

Love the vacuum cleaner

Posted by Angie Barnfield at Jul 08, 2010 12:20 PM
My husband ordered me the vacuum cleaner and steam mop was included (we paid shipping). I have always used Oreck products but I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Shark. No bags to order and I can see how much dirt is it picking up. I was amazed the first time I vacuumed with it. The steam mop is wonderful too. I thought my mop of getting floors clean but when I used the Shark steam mop the microfiber pad was black when I finished (embarrassed myself). I have recommended this to all my friends and I didn't have any trouble with the billing.

I purchased this vacuum off Amazon the end of May. I used it for 1 month and it quit working! I called their customer service and they told me I needed a new power nozzle...the main part of this vacuum. They wanted to charge me $100.00. What happened to the 5 year warrenty? I complained and now they are sending me one free of charge. That was on the 30th of June. One month later and still no new part. I have called twice to be told it is on back order. If this is such a great vacuum, why is the main part on back order. Makes me think this is not such a great product, after all! I asked to speak to a supervisor...no one was there. These people don't even speak English.I regret the day I purchased this Shark Navigator. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT!!! Customer service stinks...parts break...$200.00 piece of crap! Wish I had bought a Dyson!!! Hope you still love it a month from now.

I bought mine online...and LOVE IT...It works just like they said it would. I have told all my family and friends!!! Others that I know who have bought it say the same thing! Those that don't like it must not be using it right or were disapointed that it didn't start by itself and go around the house so they wounldn't have to??????

If you like it you must live in a tiny box with carpeting. Try using the attachments on hardwood floors in a large home and you'll see it is worthless!!! All it does is tip over from being so light weight. Use any sweeper on carpeting and it looks like its doing a good job because there is a lot of dirt in the canister when all it is doing is picking up all the fibers out of the carpeting. If you like it you must be vaccuming the lazy way and just pushing it or your disappointed that you can't spell disappointed.

Really? You're really going to get petty and knock some one for misspelling "disappointed"? Do you want me to go through and correct all or your stupid ass errors? I see 4 upon immediate glance. People need to realize, not every one’s going to be happy with everything. Most people are really quick to let you know when they’re not happy. But you rarely hear about it when some one is happy. So maybe all of you guys who are so pissed off about the product are the exception, not the rule.

THINK TWICE BEFORE BUYING A SHARK

Posted by WR at Aug 28, 2010 06:36 AM
THINK TWICE BEFORE BUYING A SHARK. Their Customer Service and Technical Assistance Departments are the absolute pits. Following the purchase of a new Shark Navigator, I noted a constant whistling sound coming from the vacuum, a sound that was every bit as loud as the motor itself. I simply wanted to know if the sound was normal for this model or if it might suggest an air leak somewhere in the system. So over the next couple weeks I sent three (3) separate email to these two departments, each one asking that simple question. All three of my emails were ignored. I ultimately contacted their toll-free customer assistance line and asked them my question. I got what can only be described as a non-answer, being told that the whistling noise was "probably" normal. Not being willing to let it go at that, I sent a letter directly to the company's CEO complaining about my experiences and asking him for an answer to the one simple question I had already asked four times. He ignored my letter. Since I could not get an answer to this very simple question and being concerned that the whistle might indicate a problem with the vacuum, I've decided to box up the machine and return it to the store where I purchased it.

Of course, there is the 5 year warranty offered by Shark. That normally would have provided some assurance that if my vacuum failed, I would be protected from a costly repair. However, to take advantage of the warranty, the vacuum and all it's accessories must be returned to Shark along with a check for $16.99. Add the cost of shipping the vacuum back to them, which depending upon how you package it and the shipping method you use, and you'll likely be paying $40 to $50 just to have Shark take a look at your vacuum. However if Shark's Customer Service and Technical Assistance Departments are as bad as they appear to be, then how confident can one be that their Repair Department is any better. It's bad enough sending the vacuum back once and paying $40 to $50 for the privilege, but what if they don't repair it properly and you have to send it back to them again? I'm just not willing to take that chance.

I suggest that you ignore the Shark and instead purchase a vacuum make by a company with a proven track record for efficient and reliable customer service after the sale. Many vacuum manufacturers have local authorized repair stations, so checking to see if local service will be available for the brand you're considering purchasing should probably be the first step you take. As an added precaution, I would suggest that you make you purchase from one of the retailers that offers a 90 day return policy instead of the 30 days offered by many others. You'll at least have 3 months to put you new vacuum to the test and assure yourself that it is performing reliably and meeting your needs and expectations.
