Flavorwave Oven Turbo

The Flavorwave oven is a counter top cooking appliance that uses three technologies to bake, grill, and dehydrate.

The Flavorwave oven's infomercial, hosted by none other than Mr. T, promises to improve your meals with this oven's three pronged cooking technology.

The Flavorwave Oven Pro Uses

  • Conduction- Halogen Lighting to provide crust and color on cooked food.
  • Convection oven cooking to circulate heat around cooking items- this mean no rotating required.
  • Infrared cooking- Cooks food from the inside out, thereby making cooking time faster while retaining the food's moisture.

The infomercial demonstrates that the Flavorwave Oven bakes cakes, grills and bbqs all kinds of meats including seafood, pork chops, chicken, turkey, and steaks.  In fact, they say with extender ring, which allows for more capacity, you can cook a whole turkey at 12 minutes per pound.

This as seen on tv commercial claims that the Flavorwave Turbo Oven by Thane, can replace three commercial cooking appliances.  Furthermore, they claim that you do not need a bar-b-que grill because this oven grills and bbqs without smoke.

You can also serve the food directly from the oven at the table as they demonstrate.  A bonus is that you can see the food cooking through the clear glass container.  This tempered glass is shatter resistant too.

The Flavorwave oven is promoted as a healthy cooking option because the cook does not need any oils or fats.  The existing fats in the food just drip off and through the roasting grills.   The convection "tornado" like effect, they say, actually pushes fat off of the food while it's cooking.

The Flavorwave Oven comes with:

Various racks, trays, and a instructional 50 recipe cookbook.

Quotes used in the infomercial:

"Set it to cook, and your off the hook"

Flavorwave Oven models

I have had the flavor wave turbo almost a year now and love it! It makes ordinary chicken, cornish hens, steaks, hamburgars delicious and low in fat! I highly recommend it.

I just purchased the turbo. We made baby back ribs and red potatoes. Took 35 minutes and was a big hit.

I bought this product a couple years ago and was disappointed in how small the cooking service actually was. Seeing I have a family of 5. The first thing I tried was a small pork roast and it took over an hour and a half and I ended up having to finsh it off in the oven cause it still wasn't cooked. Also the unit is quite heavy. Needless to say I wasn't impressed and my mother just had to have it so I sold it to her at a much cheaper price.. All in all,, I lost money.. lol..

You SOLD it to your mother?! Couldn't simply give it to her? Wow, some daughter. Anyway, I've never experienced anything like that. Everything I've cooke, EVERYTHING, has been fast AND fully cooked -- burgers, dogs, steaks, ribs, roasts, chickens, pork chops - EVERYTHING! And the cooking surface isn't small. You may need an extender ring for bigger (taller) items, but the cooking surface is quite sufficient for, as you put it, "a small pork roast".

I bought the Flavorwave when it first appeared on the market. I have never had a problem in all these years.

The heating element burns out quite often and though they don't advertise it they will sell you a replacement element if you want to spend $120.00 just for the element. They must think we are a bunch of idiots who will spend that much just for the element.

I got one soon after they came out and it had a 1 year warranty. After 9 months and much use it burned out and I called the company. They sent me a new one, no questions asked, which I am still using 2 years later and it is just now starting to have issues from time to time. My sister-in-law gave me another one which I will pull out when this one bites the dust and I will use it till it is dead. Then I will buy a new one. I love it!
